SVSU Men’s basketball started the new year with mixed results, Their first face off against Parkside on Thursday, January 4th ending with a 74-55 loss and a 38.8% field goal percentage.
Player #11, Toodles Seal lead the game in points, having 16, with Kevonne Taylor (#4) leading in rebounds, having 9 of SVSU’s 30, and Curtis Jackson (#2) leading in assists with 5 out of the Saginaw Valley’s total 8.
Parkland totaled 39 rebounds and 10 assists.
The team rebounded with their next match on the 6th against Purdue Northwest ending in a win of 72-65 and a 41.3% field goal percentage.
This game was lead in points by both #1-Freddie McIntosh and #11-Toodles Seal, each scoring 17. Kevonne Taylor again lead the game in rebounds with 7 of the total 35, and Tre Garret (#3) leading the assists with 6 out of SVSU’s total 15 for the match.
Out of Seals 17 points, 12 of them were earned in less than a half-hour of the regulations start. Kevonne Taylor also played aggressively, with over half of his blocks being in the first half of the game.
The Teams victory, however, didn’t last for long, as they found themselves slimly loosing in the second half against Grand Valley at a GVSU home game on the 11th, with the final score totaling 88-83.
SVSU trailed slightly behind GVSU’s 49.2% field goal score with a 45.6%.
Freddie McIntosh again lead the game in points with 30, with Kevonne Taylor leading in rebounds with 9 of the total 37 and Curtis Jackson leading in assists with 4 of the total 12.
GVSU’s team scored 54 points within the last 20 minutes of the match.
SVSU rebounded again with its 10th win of the season against Delta College on the 16th. The final score being 97-64. The game set new highs for four SVSU players, Elvis Machul Jr, Maurice Anderson, Toodles Seals, and Alijah Harrison.
Following the victory against Delta, SVSU lost their match against Wayne State on the 20th, ending 58/79.
Freddie McIntosh lead the points again with 17. Dylan West (#12) lead both SVSU’s rebounds and assists, toting 10 out of 38 and 4 out of the total 14, respectively. The field goal percentage was 47.1%.
