SVSU played against Maryville University on Saturday but, unfortunately, saw a loss at 13-5.
The team managed a three-run lead in the fifth.
The Saints were able to come back and secure the win.
Junior Ryan Adams started for SVSU and went on for five innings.
Maryville managed a solo home run before senior Martin Money doubled a home run to tie the score, 1-1.
Maryville made it 2-1 and gave itself the second lead of the game.
Senior Tucker Roe singled in the start of the fifth.
Junior Colin Cornwell scored a fielder’s choice and Money got a hit bypitch.
Sophomore Austin Schweiger managed to load the bases. Philip Reinhardt came in for Maryville.
He pitched and allowed junior Jaccar Watkins to hit the first homerun for the team’s season.
A grand slam allowed SVSU to be in the lead 5-2.
The bottom of the fifth saw Maryville struck back with two runs. This brought the team back into the lead.
Junior Steven Hecht got six runs on two hits. One of these hits was a grand slam.
At the end of the inning, Maryville had the lead.
The Saints managed three more runs in the seventh inning, bringing its lead up to eight.
Sophomore Carson Bassett pitched for SVSU and managed to strike out three of the four batters.
SVSU couldn’t bring its score up which gave Maryville the win.
The team will play again in March in Florida.
