Allison Hummel, third year supply chain management major helped to explain the

allocations that are available through Program Board.

Program board describes themselves as a “student-led organization with a goal to plan free and inclusive events on, but not limited to, campus. We do this by using input from SVSU students to create a sense of community and promote engagement,” according to their SVSU Engage page.

Program Board supports students in various ways, including those that may be happening behind the scenes, but may not always be seen.

Hummel described her position as Allocation Manager.

“I oversee the allocations Registered Student Organizations receive from Program Board.” She said. “This is my second year in this role and I have been working very hard the past few semesters at making this an accessible resource to RSOs so they can host events and spread awareness of their club and passions.”

Allocations are available for RSOs that are interested in hosting events that they may not have the funds within their own budgets. Hummel describes the criteria for those interested in receiving allocation funds as “first, that the event must be hosted by an RSO, second, is free for all students to attend, and third doesn’t conflict with the same time frame as a Program Board event.”

In total, in the fall semester, Program Board was able to fund thirteen RSO events, “which came out to $5,700 and an additional $485 in the Valley Nights Bonus was given away.”

When asked to further explain the Valley Nights Bonus, Hummel described it as something

“given to RSOs who use a Program Board allocation to host an event on the weekend (Thursday-Sunday)” She explained. “the amount of money an RSO earns is based on the attendance at their event, they can earn $1 per student who is checked in with a cap of $200 per event. The RSOs who earn money from the Valley Nights Bonus can use it for anything they want whether it be t-shirts for their members, a party, or another event—it is completely up to them!”

“For students in an RSOs and want to spread the word about their club on campus, events are a great way to create awareness of your involvement in the community,” Hummel continued, “Program Board would love to be a part of students finding a community!”
