Season Sports Reviews, Moving into Winter Athletics

Overall, SVSU’s full athletics have worked hard to get through their seasons. The Women’s Soccer team finished their season on Nov. 2 with a tough lost to Ferris State. However, their overall record for the season was 9 wins, 4 tied matches, and 5 losses. Their winning record was one of the better in the conference, leading them to finishing 4 in the GLIAC Conference.

In the gym, the Women’s Volleyball team has taken some tough losses. While they still have 2 games left in their season, they’ve only won four games thus far. The team is looking forward to their off-season training where they can troubleshoot some of the issues they encountered this season.

On the track, the Men and Women’s Cross-Country teams worked hard to compete against their conference. While competing at the Division II level is challenging, both teams pulled off staying in the top half of each competition.

The Men’s Soccer team struggled this year, but will still be competing in the GLIAC Tournament Championship on Nov. 12. The team is set to face the winner of the Purdue Northwest v. Davenport. Their record for the season showed 4 wins, 7 tied matches, and 6 losses with one match left in the season.

The Football team has shown up this season with a record of 5 wins and 5 losses. The team played their last home game on Nov. 4 and won 62-17 against Northern Michigan. They’ll conclude their season at Michigan Tech’s field on Nov. 11.

Women’s Golf concluded their season on Oct. 23. During most invitationals, the team placed 6th out of at most 15 teams. Looking forward to warmer weather, the team plans to work through their offseason before the 24-25 season.

Swimming and Diving has started their season, and will continue their season through March. The team is working hard to make it through the first half of their season successfully.

Both Men and Women’s basketball, Track and Field, Women’s Tennis, and Swimming and Diving have already started competing and will be moving forward throughout the winter sports season.
