SVSU men’s basketball fell 73-65 to Parkside. This game saw the end of the team’s regular season.
Freshman Chansey Willis Jr. led the team with 16 points and six assists. Junior Tre Garrett followed closely with 14 points and six rebounds. Sophomore Freddie McIntosh rounded out the top three with 10 points.
SVSU fought hard in the first half, and this was shown by nine lead changes and four ties in just the first 20 minutes of the game.
Parkside managed a 7-0 run to grab the lead, 37-32. The deficit was kept around two for the remainder of the first half.
McIntosh ended the half by scoring and bringing the score to 42-39 for Parkside.
The second half also saw some close competition with four lead changes and three ties. The last tie was a deadlock at 57 points.
Parkside hit a 6-0 run and flipped the score back in their favor. They maintained this lead for the rest of the game.
The team will play again in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament. No official dates have been announced yet
