Josh Buettner is a first-year defensive lineman for the SVSU Football team. After graduating from New Boston Huron High School, Buettner joined the Cardinals in hopes of helping to bring home the national championship.
The team is 3-4 so far with games against Davenport, Northern Michigan, and Michigan Tech left for the season. Northern Michigan will be the last home game for the season.
After their game against Wayne State, the team is looking toward any post-season possibilities.
As a first-year student, Buettner hopes to maintain a high GPA while still competing with the football team and becoming the best player he can be.
Buettner’s favorite part of playing for the team is the bond built with his coaches and teammates, which is also a large part of his decision in choosing to play at SVSU. Buettner also noted the way he was welcomed into the team as a part of his reasoning, “every time I stepped on campus, I felt like I was a part of the team and that I belonged here”, he said.
As we near the end of the football season, the team will take on Davenport at their field on Oct. 28th.
