Student Profile: Andrew Quinn, shotput

Andrew Quinn is a second-year pre nursing student and a Track and Field team member primarily participating in shot put.

Quinn chose to join the team here at SVSU because of the friendships and bonds he created with his teammates and coaches before the season started.

This season, Quinn is looking forward to the outdoor season with the team.

As a thrower, his event is most enjoyable during that section of the season.

Academically, Quinn hopes to join the nursing program while continuing to participate in athletics.

Last year, he was noted in a National Championship Preview as “one of the top throwers” in the GLIAC Conference.

One of Quinn’s largest accomplishments was also listed in the preview.

“Quinn is the current school record holder in the shot put,” they said.

Out of SVSU’s top-ranked living communities, top-of-the-line athletic facilities, and amazing faculty and staff for students and athletes.

Quinn noted that his ability to travel and see new places with his teammates was his favorite aspect of being a part of SVSU’s Track and Field team.

The Track and Field Team will begin competing on Dec. 1 at 3 p.m. with the SVSU Holiday Open. The rest of their season will run through the first week of May.
