SVSU Pride is back and better than ever. SVSU Pride, the on-campus organization caters to students in the LGBTQIA+ community is located inside the Multicultural Student Center (SC 111), just down the hall from the Student Life Rotunda.
For this academic year, SVSU Pride is gearing up for a lineup of exciting events. OUT Group, the student support group for members of the community, will be returning with supervision of the Campus Mental Health and Wellness Center. The organization is also hosting OUTober, a time for students to celebrate Pride during the academic year.
Scott Reed, the organization’s coordinator, announced, “Student Association and SVSU Pride are collaborating to present a Silent Disco Pride Prom on Nov. 9” an event sure to be popular among students of all backgrounds.
SVSU Pride is partnering with different organizations on campus including Multicultural Student Affairs, Student Association, Residential Life, Student Life, Great Lakes Bay Pride, PFLAG, and others to put on events throughout the year that celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community. SVSU Pride will be hosting events including craft nights, networking events, and other social gatherings, Reed mentioned.
At its core, SVSU Pride seeks to foster connections among students and link them with both on-campus and off-campus resources. We have a space in SC 111 available for students to come hang out, study, or spend time in community with one another. In SC111, a library with artists from the LGBTQIA+ community is available for students to check out.
