On March 31, Saginaw Valley State University women’s tennis lost a matchup against Michigan Tech during the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), 4-3.
The double matches allowed for one point earned for SVSU as two of the three matches were wins. Sophomore Adriana Barrio Garcia De Leaniz with junior Tara Erler won, 6-4. Freshman Amelia Dickinson with freshman Johanna Michahelles won, 7-6.
The single matches lead to the Cardinals losing the match as only two players made it out with a win while four lost. Leaniz won 6-0 both matches, and sophomore Elizabeth Stuart won the tiebreaker against opponent Lauren Opalewski.
Michahelles and Erler came close to a win as they won one match each, but lost the third.
The next GLIAC matchup takes place at Wayne State on April 4, and the regular season will end with Senior Day against Lake Superior State on April 8.
