Christopher Renna passed away unexpectedly March 9 in St. Joseph, Michigan.
Chris graduated from SVSU in 2002 as a political science and a criminal justice major.
He was active in the Student Association, having served as the student representation on the general education committee and grade appeals. Chris established an endowment for public service and other legislation.
Chris held law degrees from Cooley Law and the California School of Law. He was involved in the California Innocence Project and attended Oxford University for a semester.
He served as an intern for Congressman James Barcia and Senator Carl Levin. Chris was the Chief Public Defender for Berrien County and was about to start his new position as Chief Public Defender in Kalamazoo County.
His funeral was at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers should be directed to Chris’ favorite organization, the Innocence Project. innocenceproject@org.
