Women’s soccer falls to Ashland

SVSU’s Women’s Soccer team suffered a hard 2-1 loss against Ashland on Saturday, Oct.19, in a GLIAC match. The team’s overall score is now 6-5.

Junior goalkeeper Alyssa Watts managed to save five shots made by Ashland. Overall, the team managed to earn 10 shots at Ashland’s goal.

The only goal that the Cardinals made was by senior Valentina Giambanco. With an assist from senior midfielder Allison Sims.

This brought the score to 1-1 right before the first half ended.

Ashland managed to pull ahead in the second half, bringing the scoreboard to a halt for the rest of the match.

Ashland led with 16 shots with seven on goal, and the Cards only made eleven with five on goal.

The Cardinals will take on the Northern Michigan Wildcats at NMU Friday, Oct. 25.
