The Cards took on GVSU for the Battle of the Valleys game.
The team played on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Lubbers stadium. SVSU lost to GVSU 35-28.
GVSU had the first touchdown of the game and followed with a second one, bringing the score 14-0.
The Lakers managed to make a third touchdown before The Cards would get on the board with a touchdown of its own in the second quarter.
Junior running back Nate McCrary pulled through for The Cards and made a touchdown bringing the score to 21-7.
The third quarter brought forth the second touchdown for The Cards made by sophomore wide receiver Casey Williams.
The Cards attempt to score again was intercepted by The Lakers each time and allowed GVSU to score once again making it 28-14.
The Cards scored its third touchdown, McCrary’s second one of the game.
The Lakers answered the score with one of its own, bringing the overall score to 3521 in the fourth quarter.
Junior wide receiver Chad Galliard made the final touchdown for The Cards bringing the score to 35-28.
Sophomore kicker Connor Luksic made all four extra points throughout the game.
The final score of the game remained 3528, with The Lakers taking the win.
SVSU will play again Saturday, Oct. 19, against Lindenwood.
