10: Carmona College of Business.
Carmona is a place where any student can reach and find a corner all to themselves. This building has a glass facade, providing a beautiful view of the eastern side of the school. Here, students can find 2 printers, both of which are always on and easy to use. Furthermore, this building provides excellent study rooms available to reserve for a group study or all for yourself. With glass doors that overlook the beautiful fields and ponds, this area is even more so beautiful at sundown or night. While it does provide a beautiful view, it makes its way towards the bottom of this list simply because it lacks aesthetics. With everything being mostly glass, it can feel lackluster if you’re looking for a spot with a little more personality.
9: Science East Balcony.
Providing a breath of fresh air and a great view over the courtyard, the Science East balcony is rarely populated and allows students to breath, eat and drink anything they have brought along with them. While this area is surprisingly secluded, it’s not always available as we are located in Michigan, meaning more than half of the school year is on the colder side of outside temperatures.
8: Pioneer Hall.
Pioneer Hall is home of the engineering majors, offering a small library full of science books, seating and outside views. Throughout this area, one can expect to find unlikely areas to sit, such as tables tucked away in corners and group tables in the center of most rooms. Students looking for a quieter and warmer area should look towards Pioneer Hall to further their knowledge.
7: The Cardinal Cafe.
The Cardinal Cafe offers most of SVSU’s dining options; Panda Express, Smoothies, Burgers and Fries and Subway. Students looking for a quick meal and study in between classes can be found here. If the group study is more your style, The Cardinal Cafe offers booth seating, similar to what someone may expect in a restaurant. If you’re looking for a quieter area, I suggest reading further.
6: Zahnow 3rd Floor Study Rooms.
The study rooms on the third floor of The Zahnow Library speak for themselves. The atmosphere here is one that is quiet, secluded and peaceful. With many books and seats to choose from, students looking for a quiet area without the company of others should consider reserving these rooms for themselves.
5: Cardinal Commons.
The Cardinal Commons is a top pick for many SVSU students looking to study together. During the day, many students choose this spot to study with their peers, tutors and professors. Anyone walking through Science East between 11am-5pm can see this, providing a communal and fun atmosphere to study or simply chat with friends.
4: Arbury Gardens.
Arbury Gardens is one of the less-commonly known areas of campus. Standing just in the corner of the Arbury Fine Arts building when coming in by the bell tower, many people do not notice this spot. During the early fall semester, this spot provides the most relaxing spot on campus with a bench, miny river, many flowers and a pathway to walk. However, similarly to number nine, this spot is outside, and thus more uncomfortable during the colder season.
3: The Rotunda.
The Rotunda is a well-rounded area to study for students looking for any atmosphere. If you prefer quiet and low-populated areas, The Rotunda is perfect during the day, as many students don’t stop and sit on their way to class. If you prefer more people and higher energy, night time is ideal as many people tend to sit down and hang out with their friends as they get food from Papa Johns.
2. 4th Floor Zahnow Conference Room.
Providing the best view on all of campus, the fourth floor of The Zahnow Library is the perfect spot for any season. Kept cold during the summer and warm during the winter, the fourth floor caters to any introvert desires to study. Often unpopulated, this is the best place to study alone with a magnificent view.
1. The Lotus Room.
The Lotus room is a place any student can go to destress or study, offering a zen garden, chill lighting and a sensory room, perfect for any student’s needs at any point in the semester. Bring a friend or go alone, this is the perfect place to study, as it caters to anything you may need to study.
