SVSU divers sweep weekly GLIAC award for second time

For the second time this season, SVSU’s diving team has swept the GLIAC Men’s and GLIAC Women’s Diver of the Week awards.

Senior diver Libby Caird won the GLIAC Women’s Diver of the Week for the fourth time this season following her performance on Jan. 15 against Hillsdale and Ashland.

During the meet, Caird won the Women’s 1-meter dive with a score of 269.4 points and the Women’s three-meter diver with a score of 276 points.

Caird is currently 18-0 in her events this year and has won Diver of the Week on Oct. 19, Oct. 26, Nov. 23 and now this week.

Sophomore diver Adrien McGill won the GLIAC Diver of the Week for the men’s side of competition.

McGill has won 12 of his diving events this season including his two wins during SVSU’s meet against Ashland and Hillsdale.

McGill scored 268.65 points in the Men’s 1-meter dive followed by a score of 279.55 in the Men’s 3-meter dive.

This is the second time this season that McGill has earned this honor, as he also earned it on Nov. 23 along with Caird.

Saginaw Valley has their final meet of the regular season at the Gerstacker Regional Aquatic Center on Saturday Jan. 29 against Wayne State.

The GLIAC Championships also will be held at the Gerstacker beginning Feb. 4.
