Cardinal swimmers Amanda Thielen and Elizabeth Caird qualified for and competed in the 2019 NCAA Division II Swim and Dive Championships in the IU Natatorium at IUPUI in Indianapolis. The championships were held Wednesday, March 13, through Saturday, March 16.
Thielen, a senior from Hartland High School, competed in both the 100-yard backstroke on Friday and the 200-yard backstroke on Saturday.
Caird, a sophomore from Jenison High School, competed in both the 1-meter dive on Thursday and the 3-meter dive on Saturday.
Thielen came in 30th in the preliminary round for her 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.88. She also took 24th in the preliminary round of the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 2:02.91.
Caird finished in 15th place in the 1-meter dive preliminaries and 19th place in the 3-meter dive preliminaries.
