Police briefs for the week of March 23 through March 30

Police briefs are written based on reports from University Police. They indicate preliminary descriptions of events and not necessarily actual incidents.

Classroom Conflict

On March 10, officers responded to a classroom regarding a disruptive student. After speaking with the student and professor, officers were told that there had been ongoing issues. The student agreed to leave for the day and worked with the Dean of Students to address the matter.

Unexpected Guest

Officers spoke with OLLI office staff about a suspicious individual who had been asking unusual questions on March 12. Officers contacted the individual, who stated they were no longer interested in OLLI and would not return.

Fraudulent Activities

On March 12, officers began investigating reports of attempted fraud targeting the university. This case is ongoing.

Cracked Case

On March 13, officers investigated eggs smashed on the floor in Living Center Southwest. The responsible individual was identified, and the case was referred to Student Conduct for review.

Missing Coat

On March 14, officers investigated a report of a missing coat from a laundry room. Review of camera footage did not identify anyone removing the coat.

Assault in LCSW

On March 16, officers responded to a domestic assault in on-campus housing. Both the suspect and victim were located, and an assault was confirmed. One SVSU resident student was taken into custody and lodged in Saginaw County Jail. The case remains under investigation and will also be referred to Student Conduct.

    Suspended License

    On March 17, officers conducted a traffic stop on an SVSU resident student who was found to have a suspended driver’s license. A citation was issued.
